A New Year of Homeschool Art: Around the World We Go! 🌎🎨

A new year of homeschool art has officially begun at Lemonade Stand Art Studio, and this one feels extra special!

When I first started teaching homeschool art, classes looked a little different than they do today. We gathered around my dining room table with just five kids, some art supplies, and a whole lot of creativity.

I had no idea at the time what those little classes would become.

Today, our homeschool art program has grown from those original five students to more than 50 kids! What started around my dining room table eventually moved into our little studio in the front yard, and somehow we keep finding room for more paint, more projects, more laughter, and more creative kiddos.

Seeing the studio filled each week is something I don't think I'll ever take for granted.

Around the World Through Art 🌎

This year, we're packing our imaginary suitcases because our homeschool artists are going around the world through art!

Throughout the 2026–2027 school year, we'll be traveling across the seven continents and discovering art inspired by different countries, cultures, artists, traditions, landscapes, and creative styles.

But we won't just be learning about art. We'll be making plenty of it!

As we travel, students will continue learning and practicing important art techniques and concepts. We'll explore things like color, line, shape, texture, pattern, composition, and the elements of art while experimenting with a wide variety of materials and mediums.

There will be painting, drawing, mixed media, fibers, sculpture, printmaking, and probably a few wonderfully messy projects along the way. Because around here, a little paint on the table usually means something good is happening. 🎨

More Than Just an Art Project

One of my favorite things about teaching art is watching kids discover that there isn't always one "right" way to create.

I want our students to learn techniques and understand the foundations of art, but I also want them to feel confident enough to make their artwork their own.

As we explore the world this year, my hope is that they'll begin to see just how beautifully different art can be from place to place. Art tells stories. It reflects people, history, surroundings, traditions, and imagination. And even though we may live thousands of miles away from the places we're studying, art gives us a way to connect with them.

From Five Kids to Fifty-Plus 🍋

Sometimes I look around the studio and think back to those first five kids sitting around my dining room table.

Five.

Now there are more than fifty homeschool students coming through the studio, along with our workshops, camps, private classes, parties, and other creative adventures.

That's a lot of little hands making art.

And a LOT more paintbrushes to wash. 😂

I'm incredibly thankful for every family who has shared Lemonade Stand Art Studio with a friend, signed up for another year, encouraged this little business, or trusted me to be part of their child's homeschool journey.

This studio grew from a season of learning to turn life's lemons into lemonade, and watching it become a creative space for so many kids makes that phrase mean even more to me today.

So here's to a brand-new school year, full tables, messy hands, new techniques, big imaginations, and a whole world of art waiting for us to discover.

Grab your paintbrushes, artists. We're going around the world! 🌎🍋🎨
